Joel Blunden - Amedia & Balbex
Joel is a live and studio session drummer and educator with over 20 years of experience, touring, recording and teaching. He grew up playing in church on Sundays and fell in love with the drums. He soon found himself in a mix of function and original bands throughout his teens and early twenties. He has played with bands at venues and festivals across the UK whom have made appearances at Glastonbury, Standon Calling Festival, Silverstone Woodlands, Tramlines, O2 Academy Islington to name a few.
Rather than taking the traditional route of study, Joel invested in himself by seeking lessons with industry professionals, helping fuel the (never ending) pursuit of mastering his craft. joel has studie with many drummers including Gabor Dornyei , AJ Rousell (Drummers Odyssey) and Richard Hawking (Hacktivist). More recently Joel has played alongside artists such as scottish Funk heroes, High Fade, supporting them on world tour dates with his band “Blunden”. He has also performed at a drum clinic alongside AJ Rousell and Richard Hawking in his hometown of Milton Keynes. He is an in demand working drummer, which has seen him play at prestigious events and venues for companies like Nike, Mitsubishi, Amazon UK and even members of the royal family at Althorp estate.
As an educator, Joel runs the ‘Drum Cupboard”, based in Milton Keynes; drum school, drum recording, drum events (Workshops, masterclasses & Clinics) and drum hire. Between his busy gigging, recording and touring schedule, he teaches 45 students at the drum cupboard which also employs another two educators. He has regular recordings both for himself and with local drummers and bands. He hires the drum cupboards collection of modern and vintage drums to drummers in need, events companies and touring bands. on top of this, his runs regular drum events and has had guests such as Richard Hawking,Dave Forster (Premier drums education ambassador), AJ Rousell, Adam Gammage (Tom Grennan), Calvin Davidson (HighFade) and Beanie Bhebhe (Rudimental).
